As mentioned at my previous post, I had thought about going to Edinburgh for a short while. Well - I stopped thinking, started doing. So here I am - in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Had to get up at 04:40 in the night to catch my 06:55 plane to EDI, but I thought it wouldn’t matter much because I’d have the entire Sunday available for my to wonder around in. Well - yes I had. But it wasn’t really optimal because my hostel didn’t do check-ins prior to 15:00, which left me with 6 hours to kill before I could shuffle some stuff between my backs and have a “going-out-bag”. Luckily they did offer luggage storage so I didn’t need to lug around on the heavy bags for all that time.
And the Fringe is happening right now. I’ve already caught two shows.
The Filthy Hunt at The Zoo. I chatted to one of the girls performing and ended up getting a free comp. ticket. So of course I had to go see it. Well I had to promise to actually go see it if I got the ticket, but either way - off I went. It was quite good if a little confusing. And bonus-feature: They started by stripping to their underwear to the tones of Depeche Mode: Stripped (some remix I didn’t recognise). So if nothing else, then go see it because of the two girls in bra and panties.
The Father by SUDS. I caught them at The Mile and started chatting them up. They were quite witty and sharp pretty much all of them. And really, that’s what I go for in the shows. Good actors. It’s so hard to judge the show by their flyers or mini-shows at The Mile - so I go for the actors personality. The show was great and especially their acting stood out. They were really professional and good all the way through.
I think will do a Flyer Boys and Girls of the Fringe set at Flickr, because there are so many situations and costumes that are worth a good shot or two.
Btw, Creds to Smart City Hostels for a great hostel. The rooms and communal areas are great. But they had me at the free Wi-Fi.
