Day Two at The Fringe

Another day well taken care of here in Edinburgh. I started out by visiting The Castle as I woke up fairly early. I wasn’t impressed. Maybe because I’ve already seen it once, maybe because I didn’t take a tour. But it was 11 pounds!

I then strolled around on The Mile trying to get inspired and I did find a few things that sounded interested but unfortunately most of them was around two p.m. and I had planned to visit the Botanic Gardens to see The Pantaloons. Which brings us to the daily mini reviews…

A Midsummer Nights Dream by The Pantaloons. They shined as always. I had to sharpen up as my Shakespearean English wasn’t as tuned in. But after a few scenes of adjustment to the language and play it all came together wonderfully. There wasn’t as much slapstick and silly humour as last year but their mimic and improv made up for it. The Pantaloons are always worth a visit when in town.

Funking Cool Jazz by The Black Tie Band. The concert was amazing! Their cool jazz and swinging funk could make even the coldest man light up and join the rhythm. They were all between the ages of 16 and 20 which made it all the more impressive. They consisted of a (female) drummer, a keyboard player, a bass player, a trumpet player, a trombone player and a male and a female singer. They all wore black suits, white shirts and black ties (hence the name I guess) - which just added to the jazz-feal of the band. All in all worth a showing or two..

I’ve booked tickets for two shows tomorrow - but more about them in tomorrows post.
